Apparently sales are lagging in pd land. With 5x fewer initial sales then their previous title (in the uk) Any ideas why? I know next gen does play a role, but I doubt it is the sole reason why.

I was going to buy a PS4 and GT6 as a combo, but then I realized they're not compatible, so I didn't buy either one.

few reasons
1) There seems to be some de-contenting such as no used car dealership, no special event mode off the bat, and the "micro transactions" were harped as somehow being mandatory (they aren't)
2) GT6 seems half-finished. I understand polyphony likes to take forever to finish things but this title has a lot of "pardon our dust" moments. They have the whole "Vision GT" category but only Mercedes has a car available to view. Everyone else's car is just a teaser.
3) It is surprisingly glitchy. One time, I went to start a goodwood run and the screen was black while I heard the countdown horn honks. It still played the opening cinematic while the clock was going. So before I even get a chance to go, the run is shot. Numerous little stutters and jumps and odd moments here and there don't give it the same feel that GT4 had - the ultimate driving game for that generation.

because we all got fleeced by GT5. I'm done with the series. My time is now more valuable than my money and I frankly don't want to re-play the same game I did back in 2010 and 2005 and 2000 and 1998 just so I can drive last year's corvette, and do so on the same circuits from 15 years ago.
I already work 40 hours a week, I can't afford to work more during my (limited) free time.

Next gen plus people finally figuring out the quantity /= quality. You can't keep putting out the same game over and over, even if you have eleventy billion cars.
Forza got it right by putting out a next-gen, well-crafted game that offered something new, even if it was smaller than previous games. GT should heed the lesson going forward. Do it right or don't do it at all.

Not having GT6 atleast playable in some form on ps4 is probably the leading factor to the games much lower sales. Very odd timing on Sony/polyphony digitals part.
For all we know GT6 may have a functioning release for ps4 that just isn't quiete ready for release yet. I realize that the architecture between the ps3 and ps4 may be too great for the game to simply run between the two, but again for all we know Gran turismo could be built on a multi platform capable console, like most other major engines used in the industry.
So, I believe its not that far fetched of an idea that GT6 may be re-released later for the new system. At that point I think you'd start to see alot more people pick up the game.
